A beautiful day in Maine! Started off the morning with a nice walk along the water. The beach was pretty deserted, so it was really nice. It was me, Ryan, Becca, Jason and Cappy. Me and Becca decided to walk in the water, but I was wearing jeans so I had to roll them up, so cool. We saw a lot of our clam friends, but most were sadly dead. Eaten by seagulls early in the morning. Poor little/big guys. Ryan almost stepped on a cute little crab that was about the size of a spider! It was actually really cute! When we got back, we hung out on the porch for a bit... I sat in the sun (God I love sitting in the sun! I never get outside anymore!) and read my book. And discovered that I had ridiculous looking sunburns on my legs from my oh-so-cool rolled up jeans. Yay.
We then decided to take a little drive around Kennebunk and Kennebunkport just the two of us. We walked around Kennebunkport a bit, going in all of the stores, and we actually refrained from buying anything! Go us! And one of the stores was a candy store too! We then drove around Ocean Avenue.. and drove by some beautiful houses, including George W. Bush's house.
For dinner we went out to Federal Jack's Tavern in Kennebunk. It is also where Shipyard Ale is brewed. The food was beyond amazing! Ryan got fish and chips (again! But hey, it's what you haveta do when you go to the beach!) and I got fried sea scallops. I usually prefer bay scallops (they're smaller and in my opinion have a better flavor), but oh my God, these were the best scallops ever! They were really sweet and melted in my mouth. Becca got a baked scallop dish topped with panko breadcrumbs and crumbled bacon. Unfortunately it was baked in butter, so I couldn't have it, but I hear it was possible even more amazing than the fried scallops!
After dinner, me, Ryan, Becca and Jason took a scenic drive around Kennebunkport, and saw a pretty sunset.
When we got back to the house we celebrated Lauren's birthday with some presents and cake. I made Lauren some cupcakes, but Madison ruined them yesterday (Ryan was holding her leash (and her) in one hand and the cupcake carrier in the other and Mads pulled and all of the cupcakes fell over and got smashed inside the carrier. Grrr), but they were still good. We also had ice cream cake. We then played a game of Scrabble. I think I came in 3rd out of 4, but I still had fun! It's impossible to win a game of Scrabble if you're playing with Ryan or his mom. Especially if you're playing with both of them!
I'm sad we have to leave already tomorrow :(
